Best New Foundations For Every Skin Need

I don't blame you if you not ready to fully embrace the "no makeup" makeup trend, but be warned: The new foundation formulas cover everything you want to cover (pores, redness, general blah-ness) without any heaviness and make you look so well rested and glowy that you might find you just don't need anything else.

BEST FULL COVERAGE

Clinique Beyond Perfecting Foundation + Concealer - $27 - www.clinique.com

I love this foundation. You just need a little bit for full coverage, and I will say this is best for people with oily acne-prone skin or have blemishes (like me) because it covers them up really well.

BEST BRIGHTENING

NARS All Day Luminous Weightless Foundation - $48 - www.narscosmetics.com

Your face will look amazing (again dewy not matte). The coverage is very good and flawless looking. The consistency is very thin but it is super pigmented. It goes on smoothly and blends very easily. It does have a slight luminosity factor but nothing shimmery or glittery-looking. I find it to be dewy as opposed to being very matte. The range of shades is excellent.

BEST MATTIFYING

L'Oreal Paris Infallible Pro-Matte Foundation - $12 - www.target.com

This foundation looks wonderful on my skin, it blurs pores on my nose, feels light and controls oil pretty good. I apply it with beauty blender. The coverage is medium but can be built to full if needed. You have to exfoliate and moisturize your skin before applying, otherwise it might cling to dry patches. It's not necessary to even set this with powder, although I do lightly set it on my t-zone. The finish is demi-matte. I wore it for some 7-8 hours and it looked great.

BEST LIGHT COVERAGE

Dior Diorskin Nude Air Serum De Teint - $53 - www.sephora.com

I think this foundation will be perfect for those with normal and balanced skin. You’ll love this if you have moderately oily skin like myself due to it's longevity and matte finish and you’ll also love this if you’re on the normal to dry side, because it has a moisturising (effect due to it being a serum). This foundation requires no effort, its perfect for everyday wear with your daily dose of SPF. It's no where near caky or thick and makes your skin look like skin but better, healthier giving a radiant glow.

BEST ANTI-AGING

Sisley Skinleya Anti-Aging Lift Foundation - $195 - www.sisley-paris.com

I was anxious to try this insanely expensive makeup. I got a bit of a deal on ebay but it was still very pricey. After some experimenting, I finally got this to work. It comes with a very nice foundation brush. It works the best when using beauty blender sponge. Also, you have to apply primer before applying foundation. I've learned that once you take the time to apply this foundation it leaves you with a beautiful complexion. Skin looks rested, perfectly natural, flawless and glowy, and you only need a very small amount to cover your entire face.

BEST MEDIUM COVERAGE

Maybelline Fit Me! Dewy + Smooth Foundation - $8 - available at mass retailers nationwide.

I know people say to avoid this foundation if you have oily skin, but I can't help but want to use it. It gives the most beautiful dewy glow and I always get compliments with this foundation. If your not too worried about the longevity of the foundation, I would definitely recommend this. It does help a bit if you use a matte powder on top but it does remove a bit of the dewiness. The packaging is a bit bland and I don't like the fact there is no pump, but overall for a drugstore foundation it is worth the money.

BEST LIGHTWEIGHT & HYDRATING

By Terry Sheer-Expert Perfecting Fluid Foundation - $66 - www.barneys.com

So glad that I decided to give this foundation a try. You can build from light to medium coverage easily without caking. The colour 7 is perfect for my light olive toned skin. It feels super light on, blush/bronzer and powder last beautifully on this foundation. I do have oily skin and find that it gets a little shiny later in the afternoon but keep in mind I apply it at 6am and only starts to get oily at about 2pm, but it doesn't break up on the face, or look gross, just more...radiant I guess.

BEST LONG-WEARING

Neutrogena Nourishing Long Wear Makeup - $15 - www.ulta.com

This foundation gave my face a smooth and flawless finish for at least 8 hours. It is a little difficult to get out of the bottle because it is so thick, but it is easy to spread across your face and blend. As with many long wear foundations, this tends to be a little drying, so make sure you exfoliate and moisturize before applying so you will not accentuate the appearance of dry skin. I applied this over my SPF 45 facial sunscreen, and I did not experience any pilling. The finish was satin-matte, with no visible shine. I set it with pressed powder to make sure I had no oiliness crop up during the day. Coverage is medium to full. The SPF 20 protection is a nice feature.

BEST SMOOTHING & REFINING

Georgio Armani Designer Lift Smoothing Firming Foundation - $67 - www.sephora.com

This is one of my favorite foundations to wear
for photos. This gives a medium coverage and makes my skin look flawless. You do have to work quite quickly with it as it drys quite fast but it doesn't transfer. It does not give your face a lift but it does look great on your skin. I find apply with a stippling brush best for a smooth application.

BEST MEDIUM TO FULL COVERAGE POWDER

Tarte Amazonian Clay Full Coverage Airbrush Foundation - $36 - www.sephora.com

I have extremely oily and acne prone skin and I always wanted to try this product. I honestly fell in love with it! I've had it since December and I still have sooo much left over so it definitely lasts a long time. If you have oily or acne prone skin...I definitely recommend this product!
